I titled this blog post "vintage" because this card feels like that for me. Maybe it's really not...maybe it just reminds me of all the pointsettas at my grandma's house every Christmas. *smile* This set includes some "two-step" pieces for the flower and leaves. After I stamped them, I didn't really like the white showing through, so I took markers and filled in the rest of the white space in the flowers and leaves and I loved the way it turned out...especially the flowers!
Step by Step
To complete this project, you'll need cardstock cut to the following sizes:
5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Real Red (card base)
4-1/8" x 5-3/8" Real Red (to emboss)
3" x 5" Mint Macaron
2-3/4" x 4-3/4" Whisper White
2" x 3" Basic Black
2" x 3" Whisper White
1) The pointsetta image is actually in three pieces...the main piece is the outline, then there are "filler" pieces for both the flower and leaves. Start by stamping the outline piece three times on to Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink (I stamped them in kind-of an arch). Stamp the filler piece for the flower in Real Red ink and the filler piece for the leaves in Wild Wasabi ink. As I mentioned, I didn't like the extra white space, so I took a Melon Mambo pen to fill in the flowers and Mint Macaron to fill in the leaves. I also used Delightful Dijon to fill in the centers of the flowers. Use the open, sharp edge of scissors to slightly distress the paper edge. Add Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
2) Use the Big Shot with the Layering Ovals framelits to cut both the Whisper White and Basic Black cardstocks. Use the Big Shot with the Holly embossing envelope to emboss the 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" Real Red cardstock (TIP: you can emboss the card front directly, to save paper, if you wish, but I always like the inside of my card to be "clean" so I add the extra layer).
3) Adhere the embossed Real Red cardstock on to the card base. Layer the flower stamped piece on to Mint Macaron, then on to the card front, centering toward the top edge of the card. Stamp the sentiment using Real Red ink on to the Whisper White oval. Layer on to the Basic Black scallop oval. Adhere to card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
