Hi stampin' friends! I'm happy to say that, even though my studio is still an absolute wreck, I found a small space to play with a new stamp set this afternoon! I'd like to introduce you to the Varied Vases stamp set and coordinating Vases Builder punch:
This fun duo will be available either individually or as a bundle in the new catalog available starting June 1. I'm so excited about all the possibilities!
I tried something a little different for the focal piece on this card. I watercolored one a little earlier and after I finished painting the vase and flowers, I wanted to add a wash of Crumb Cake in the background. It worked okay but some of the colors bled into the Crumb Cake, which didn't make me happy. I started again, but this time I did the Crumb Cake wash FIRST...I let it dry completely and then stamped the other images and watercolored them. It looked much better the second time around so that's my new plan!
After the Crumb Cake wash was completely dry, I started by stamping the scallop at the bottom in Tranquil Tide ink. I stamped the vase next in Crumb Cake, and also created a mask for it by punching the image with the punch from a post-it note. Once the image was stamped onto the watercolor paper, I covered it with the mask so I could stamp the flower image (Crumb Cake ink)--the long stem disappears when the mask is pulled off, leaving the flowers to appear like they are inside the vase--and added a couple of leaves. Using an Aqua Painter and ink from the lids of Pear Pizzazz, Grapefruit Grove (new In Color!), Calypso Coral and Blueberry Bushel (new In Color!), I watercolored the stamped images.
While the watercolor paper was drying, I ran a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock through the Big Shot in the Lovely Floral embossing folder. This folder is currently available in the Gotta Have It All pre-release bundle (click HERE for more info), but will be available on it's own in June. I am LOVING this embossing folder...I've already used it on several projects! I also added some splatter with an Aqua Painter and a little bit of Tranquil Tide ink.
Once my watercolor piece was dry, I added the sentiment (stamped in Tranquil Tide) and some Wink of Stella on the flower centers and as a highlight on the vase. I wrapped some linen thread around the paper and tied a tiny bow at the bottom. This piece was then mounted onto Tranquil Tide cardstock. Before adhering it to the Crumb Cake cardstock with Stampin' Dimensionals, I added a twist of linen thread to the back. Finally, I layered everything onto a Tranquil Tide card base.
I will probably be throwing in a couple of sneak peeks over the next few posts until the catalog release, but there's also a few more retiring sets I want to share, just in case you need to add them to your collection before they're gone!
Do you need a copy of the new catalog? If you'd like one, please be sure to send me a message so I can get one to you!
Until next time...happy stampin'!
