Texture, Texture, Texture - with Tutorial Video!

Texture, Texture, Texture - with Tutorial Video!

I wanted to start this post by showing you my inspiration for this card:

I have a thing for old doors (I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to them!) and I thought this one was to die for.  Can you pick out what inspired me?  To make it easy, I'll just tell you.  ;)

First off, it was the colors.  Holy smokes, those colors are so gorgeous together!  I used Bermuda Bay, Berry Burst (not quite as purple as the picture, but it worked nicely and actually turned somewhat purple when it mixed with the blue) and Pear Pizzazz to watercolor the background.  It didn't turn out quite as vibrant, but I was still happy with the effect!

Then, all that TEXTURE.  I used two different techniques to achieve a lot of texture on my background...heat embossing and embossing paste.  With the image from Timeless Textures embossed in copper embossing powder and the diamonds stenciled on with glittered and Crumb Cake-tinted embossing powder, I was sooooo pleased with the way the background turned out!

I actually had no clue what stamp I was going to use as the focal point when I started this project but after searching through different images, I found this verse in the Rose Wonder set and thought it fit perfectly.  I embossed it using copper embossing powder onto Crumb Cake cardstock.

To see how this card came together, here's the video:
