Hi stampin' friends! It seems that every Stampin' Up! catalog has at least one set that is just a bit on the quirky side...I believe the So Santa set gets the prize in our current Holiday catalog. I love it! This little Santa bakin' it up in the kitchen is absolutely adorable...and then there's the Santa scooting along on a scooter with a bag full of packages. My favorite is the Santa in his swim suit on a beach with a surf board and a pineapple cocktail. Now THAT Santa knows where to spend the winter! :) You'll be seeing all these images on projects at some point, but today I started with the baking Santa. I'm pretty sure that's a plate full of Gingerbread! YUM!
I stamped the Santa using black StazOn ink onto a piece of watercolor paper and colored him in with an aqua painter and ink from the lids of Real Red, Old Olive, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Soft Suede and Petal Pink stamp pads. I added some sparkle with Fine-Tip glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the bottom of his coat and the cuffs on his sleeve, then cut the image out with one of the squares from the Stitched Shapes framelits (make sure the glue is dry before cutting).
The Real Red layer has been run through the Big Shot in the Swirls & Curls embossing folder...how fun is this impression!? I also spritzed it with a Stampin' Spritzer filled with rubbing alcohol and a couple drops of Frost White shimmer paint.
While that was drying, I layered the piece of designer series paper from the Under The Mistletoe collection onto an Old Olive card base. The 1/8" Real Red ribbon is wrapped around and secured in a bow on the front (it helps to keep the bow in place if you place a mini glue dot under the knot).
To finish up, the Real Red cardstock is adhered over the DSP, with the Santa piece layered on top of that. The sentiment is stamped onto a scrap of Old Olive with black StazOn.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll be back on Thursday with another fun project. Be sure to join me on Saturday also when I'll be hopping in the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop...and I'll be live on Facebook for a Stamp Class on Sunday at 3:00 pm (PST) so I hope you'll join in!
