Back when I had little kids at home, my general rule for stamping was, “If I can’t make it in five minutes or less, I won’t make it.” Now that my kids are all grown up (yes, I have been stamping a VERY long time!), I can actually spend more time on a card. Even though I CAN, it’s always nice when a beautiful new set comes with a coordinating thinlets set because fussy cutting isn’t my favorite! Which leads me to today’s project using the Best Birds stamp set and Birds & Blooms thinlets dies.
To make the bird, I first cut her out of watercolor paper with the thinlets die. I used ink pads and an aqua painter to add color to her. For the branch and flowers, I added color directly to the image using Stampin’ Write markers, stamped the images on watercolor paper, used the aqua painter to pull the color through the image, then cut them out with the thinlets. I embossed the background image onto whisper white cardstock using the versamark pad and white embossing powder, then watercolored over the embossed image for a resist look. I glued everything down and added a little clear Touch of Stella to the flowers. I think it turned out really pretty, and I saved a ton of time with thinlets!
Until next time….happy stampin’!
