My family is full of October babies so this morning I set out to create some fall-themed birthday cards. This one turned out to be my favorite! Of course, I love the fall colors, but I was also very pleased with all the beautiful textures created by the embossing envelope, burlap ribbon, my favorite DSP and the paper and foil framelit cutouts.
I absolutely love the colors of Fall! They bring home all the feelings of gorgeous foiliage, warm clothes, hot beverages, crunchy leaves, and the thought of holidays nearing and family coming together. Yes, colors can do that for me.
The Pick a Pumpkin set and coordinating Patterned Pumpkins framelits are fabulous with several sizes and textures of pumpkins, some beautiful foliage pieces, and some fun faces if you're looking to make Jack-o-Lanterns! I love that the framelit pieces can be used with cardstock either stamped or not...sometimes I feel like a shape is lost if it's cut out of non-stamped paper but some of these pieces easily keep their shape. And the best part? The set and framelits are available as a bundle, saving you 10%!
I actually started this project with the centerpiece. I knew I wanted to layer the cut pieces on to a piece of the Wood Textures DSP. The two smaller pumpkins are stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink on to Very Vanilla cardstock, while the other pieces are cut directly from colored cardstock and Copper foil. Once I had the pieces adhered to the DSP, I layered it all on to a piece of Early Espresso cardstock.
I wanted to bring in more woodgrain texture so I ran the background Cajun Craze cardstock through the Big Shot using the Pinewood Planks embossing folder, and instead of any type of bow, I used a simple strip of burlap ribbon before layering everything on to an Early Espresso card front to finish it up.
I'll be stamping up a few more of these for my October birthday recipients!
I used the following products on this project:
