Life is Messy

Life is Messy

Today's card is just a little reminder that life doesn't always go just the way we plan it...sometimes it's messy!  I used some of the Very Vanilla 1/2" Lace Trim on this project, which is still on Stampin' Up!'s Special Offers list at 25% off until Wednesday, so add it to your list before it goes back to regular price!  The stamp set is Pretty Kitty...I'm not a huge cat fan (I'm a dog girl!) but I do love the sweet images in this set!

Step by Step

To complete this project, you'll need the following cut cardstock pieces:

4-1/4" x 11" Wisteria Wonder (card base)

4" x 5-1/4" Fancy Frost Specialty DSP

3-3/4" x 3-3/4" Elegant Eggplant

3-1/2" x 3-1/2" Watercolor Paper

1)  Stamp kitten image in bottom right corner and "Life is messy" in top left corner of watercolor paper using Basic Black ink.  Use aqua painter and stamp pads to watercolor kitten.  (This image does not include the floor under the cat.  To create it, I watercolored under and around the kitten with Crumb Cake ink.  I then drew the darker, floor board lines with a Soft Suede Stampin' Write marker).  After ink dries, layer watercolor paper onto Elegant Eggplant cardstock.

2)  Use a sponge brayer to apply Elegant Eggplant ink over Fancy Frost Specialty DSP. On backside of DSP, add a small amount of adhesive on the upper left and upper right edges where you want your lace to go.  Adhere lace end to adhesive on one side and wrap around front to adhere on the other side.  Cut.  Adhere DSP onto card front.

3)  Adhere kitten pieces onto card front, slightly under lace.  Use a piece of linen thread to tie a bow onto the lace on the left side over sentiment.
