Last Minute Gifts...Let's Be Real

Last Minute Gifts...Let's Be Real

Today I'm going to be real.  Like really real.  I don't even have my Christmas tree up yet.  Granted, I have a good excuse because my house is in complete chaos because my daughter, son-in-law and grand baby arrived a few days ago to live with us for awhile.  This means we are trying to combine two households full of stuff into one for a few months.  But if I'm REALLY being real, I might be this far behind even if they weren't here right now!  It just happens sometimes.  We have the best intentions and grand plans and....things happen.

In that spirit, today's project is an idea for when "things happen".  Who says you can't purchase a pre-made product like this yummy bag of peppermint yogurt pretzels, leave them in their original packaging and dress them up with a quick belly band and tag?  "I" say, that's who!  I believe that even though I didn't spend a ton of time on it, it still conveys the thought that I'm thinking of them and I did take a bit of time to make it personal.  :)

I pulled out one of my favorite sets from this year's catalog (last year's Holiday catalog!), Cookie Cutter Christmas.  This adorable little set has it's own coordinating punch, Cookie Cutter Builder.  This dynamite duo will help you make charming tags lickity split!

I started by stamping the reindeer with Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock and added a bit of color and shading with Stampin' Blends.  He is punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder punch.  I punched his nose from red glimmer paper with the 1/2" circle punch and trimmed one edge, then adhered it with a mini stampin' dimensional.

Both the belly band and the small piece of DSP on the tag are from Merry Little Christmas.  To make the band long enough to go all the way around the package, I cut two 1" strips and adhered them together with tear & tape adhesive.

I layered all the tag pieces onto a two-inch strip of Real Red cardstock, which I ran through the Big Shot in the Holly embossing folder, then I cut the top with the Scalloped Tag Topper.  To finish it up, I tied the tag on with Basic Black 3/8" shimmer ribbon.

I hope showing you a project like this takes a little bit of the pressure off...holidays are best when we're not stressed!  :)

I used the following products on this project:

Until next time...happy stampin'!
