I realize that today is only September 1 but the new 2016-17 Holiday Catalog goes live today so it has me thinking about Christmas! And in reality, we all know that Christmas will be here before we know it, so it’s never too early to start thinking about and working on our holiday projects!
With that in mind, I am sharing a card today which uses one of my many favorite new things from this catalog…the Santa’s Sleigh bundle. This bundle includes a 15-piece photopolymer stamp set and a 12-piece thinlits die set…oh how I love matching thinlits!
To create this card, I started by cutting the sleigh out of Very Vanilla cardstock three times. I glued the three together to make one, thick, sleigh. This creates the illusion of dimension without having to try to put dimensionals on all the tiny parts of the sleigh runners. I then stamped the wreath in green, and filled in a little color with the same green and a blender pen. This was then attached to the background paper.
For the greeting, I stamped the image onto the bottom of the cardstock before I ran it through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling embossing folder. (A little tip--and I know this because I learned it the hard way--it’s easier to stamp first and then emboss because an embossed image could affect the way your image stamps.)
I finished it off by layering it all together and adding some beautiful Cherry Cobbler taffeta ribbon.
I have a couple of months before I have to actually start working on my Christmas cards. Honestly, there are so many beautiful things to choose from, I’m going to have a hard time deciding exactly which to use for my cards this year!
If you don’t have a copy of the Holiday Catalog and you’d like one, please e-mail me your address and I’ll make sure to send one out to you ASAP!
Until next time…happy stampin’!
