Happy Easter for the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop

Good morning friends...hope you're having a great stampin' day!  Today I'm participating in the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop...our theme this month is Bunnies & Chocolate.  Get ready to see some great projects as you hop along!

I tend to be pretty literal so the theme "Bunnies & Chocolate" sent me straight to Easter.  What to do though when I don't have an "Easter" set?  I started poking around my stamp stash to see what I had that would work for an Easter card.  I found an adorable bunny in the Garden Girl set, a "Happy Easter" sentiment in the Teeny Tiny Wishes set, and some gorgeous paper in the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series paper collection and figured I was good to go!  Here's my card:

I just adore this little bunny image.  I stamped it using Basic Gray ink onto a piece of thick Whisper White cardstock, then lightly highlighted it with watercolor pencils and watercolored with an Aqua Painter.  When it was dry, I cut it with the Big Shot and one of the Stitched Shapes framelits.

I chose two pieces of DSP from the Sweet Soiree collection.  I cut one 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" and the other 3/4" x 3-3/4" for an accent.   After adhering them together, I ran a piece of Tear & Tape adhesive along the top edge of the accent piece for my ribbon.  To get the little ruffle in the ribbon, start by laying the cut end on the sticky strip starting on the left edge.  Fold back a small bit, then press into the adhesive.  Continue folding and pressing until you reach the end of the adhesive.  In case this doesn't make sense (because words are hard!), I made a little picture tutorial:

Adhere Tear & Tape Adhesive

Adhere end of ribbon to end of tape.

Fold ribbon back over itself and press into tape.

Repeat to end of tape.  You can be careful to make sure each section is straight and even but I like mine to be a little uneven and "messy".

Clip the ribbon at the end.  You can leave it just like this, or if you want the ruffles to be a little flatter, tuck a glue dot under each ruffle to hold it down.

Hopefully that's a little easier to follow than my written instructions!  When I was finished with the ribbon, I layered the bunny image over it with Stampin' Dimensionals.  To finish it up, I layered the DSP onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock, then layered everything onto a thick Whisper White card base.  The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive and I added a white baker's twine bow.
