Good afternoon stampin' friends! Today I'm featuring one of my very favorite sets from the Occasions catalog which is being retired...Magical Day. I am the first to admit that I wasn't a huge fan when I first saw this set but the charming images grew on me and I'm so sad it's not returning. I rarely keep retiring sets but this one is remaining in my small collection of sets I just can't part with.
I almost pulled out watercolor paper again today but thought I'd try something a little different. Instead, I stamped both the knight and the dragon in Memento ink onto Glossy cardstock and colored them with Stampin' Blends. I really like the effect of these markers on the glossy paper! For the knight, I used the light and dark Night of Navy, light and dark Smoky Slate and the Ivory blends. The dragon is colored with light and dark Old Olive, light and dark Crumb Cake and dark Daffodil Delight blends. After the pieces were colored, I used the Big Shot to cut the knight with the coordinating die from Magical Mates and the dragon is cut with one of the Stitched Shapes circles.
Everything else was just a matter of layering...the strip in the middle is Myths & Magic Specialty DSP layered onto a piece of Wood Textures DSP, then Night of Navy and finally a Smoky Slate card base. The knight is adhered with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I added a few black sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assorment and finished it up with a splash of Wink of Stella.
I've used these sweet stamps on several other blog post projects...if you'd like to see them, click on My Gallery, then type Magical Day into the search bar. It will bring them all up for you! If you're collection won't be complete without this adorable set and coordinating framelits, make sure you order it SOON...they'll be gone for good June 1!
I'll be back on Sunday with a scrapbook page to share for the Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop!
Until next time...happy stampin'!
