Global Design Project #062 - Hang in There

Global Design Project #062 - Hang in There

I'm a day behind on my Global Design Project submission but better late than never, right?  This week we have a layout challenge:

I like this simple layout!  When I was putting my card together though, I chose to use it vertically instead of's a great layout either direction!

When I was trying to decide what direction to take with this project, I started thinking about my daughter, who was home this weekend.  She teaches 2nd grade and she was telling me about some of the challenges she's been facing in the past few I made this card for her.  I think we've all known a teacher or two who could use a card like this sometime during a difficult school year!

Be sure to head over to the Global Design Project website to see all the fantastic ideas using this layout!  Maybe you have a fun idea of your own?  Be sure to submit it!

Tips & Tricks

  • I'll admit that stamping the Writing Notes background was a little challenging for me.  I usually find it easiest to lay a background stamp on it's back, ink it, then apply the paper to the top and rub for even ink coverage.  This stamp was giving me all kinds of fits when I used that method, however because I kept getting double lines.  I finally ended up using it in the traditional way (laying my paper on my work surface, inking the stamp and applying from the top).  It was a little tricky lining it up, but I was much happier with the result in the end!
  • When I cut the "apple" using the Swirly Scribbles piece, I ended up leaving a lot of the cut die pieces in the middle.  I did want a little of the swirly affect around the edges but I wanted the center to be solid.  I just chose not to push those pieces out after I cut it.
  • I'm a little OCD about making sure things are lined up straight so angling paper layers is always a challenge for me...I think I'm okay with how this all turned out!

These are the products I used on this project:
