Global Design Project #056 - Sweet Friend

Global Design Project #056 - Sweet Friend

I am so, so excited...and honored and thrilled and...excited!  I was one of three winners for the project I posted for the Global Design Project last week!!

Thank you so much all are some very talented stampers and it means a LOT to me that you chose my card as one of your winners!  I'm in my studio doing my happy dance!  *smiles*

Of course, I'm ready to participate again this week!  Our assignment is to CASE designer Bibi Cameron.  You might be asking what "CASE" means...I've actually heard several variations but what it boils down to is being inspired by another stamper's project and tweaking it to your own style.  You may choose the same color scheme, the same layout, or maybe just one aspect of the project.  I loved that Bibi had colored in her image, and I liked the little banner and bow she used in the top left corner...I used her layout (a single layer of paper over the card base), the banner and bow (with different products) and I added color by watercoloring my image.

Step by Step

To complete this project, you'll need the following cardstock cut to these sizes:

4-1/4" x 11 Delightful Dijon (card base)

3-3/4" x 5" Watercolor paper

1)  Stamp flower image onto watercolor paper using Basic Black ink.  Stamp "sweet" and "friend", also using Basic Black ink (the "friend" image actually has some outlined parts.  Because I wanted it to really stand out, I colored in the outline parts, but AFTER I waterecolored it so that the black pen ink didn't bleed).  Use an aqua painter with Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Delightful Dijon, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, and Early Espresso inks to watercolor flower image.  Watercolor around flower image with Smoke Slate, keeping color darkest near image and fading out to edge of paper.  After image is completely dry, use a black marker to color in the outlined parts of the word "friend".

2)  Use some Tear & Tape to attach a small piece of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon as a "banner".  Adhere a small Linen thread bow with a Mini Glue Dot.  Apply three gold Metallic Enamel Shapes.  Adhere watercolor paper to card base.

I used the following products for this project:
