First off, let me say I was honored to receive a Special Mention for my card in the Global Design Project last week! I'm having a lot of fun participating in this weekly challenge, so that was like a little extra frosting on my cake to be mentioned!
This week, the theme is Random Acts of Kindness: a great challenge to not only make a card, but to think of someone to send it to! I know exactly who will be receiving this lovely card, just as soon as I'm finished with this post. *smile* Because this theme is open to interpretation, I first thought about who I would like to send my card to, what kinds of things they enjoy, then I let my creative juices run free...and ended up with this. I love the soft colors and the lace and doily add touches of vintage...perfect for my card recipient.
Step by Step
To complete this project, you'll need cardstock cut to the following sizes:
5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Wisteria Wonder cardstock (card base)
3-3/4" x 5" Watercolor paper
Scraps of Blushing Bride cardstock, Blushing Bride DSP (from the Subtles DSP Stack) and Silver Foil
1) Even though this set is intended to be used in a two-step process to achieve a watercolor look, I wanted to actually watercolor the images so I used Versamark ink and White embossing powder to heat emboss images onto watercolor paper. Use an aqua painter with Wisteria Wonder, Blushing Bride, Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzazz inks to watercolor embossed images. When dry, adhere to Wisteria Wonder card base. Emboss sentiment using Versamark ink and White embossing powder onto Blushing Bride cardstock. Cut image out with Big Shot and Tags & Labels framelit.
2) Attach small bit of doily to backside of sentiment piece. Wrap Metallic Silver thread around three fingers three or four times. Slide off fingers, twist into a figure 8 and adhere to back side of sentiment piece. Adhere to watercolored piece in bottom right corner.
3) Tear one edge of a strip of Blushing Bride DSP. Layer on to far left edge. Adhere a strip of silver foil over DSP. Lay a strip of Tear & Tape adhesive next to silver foil. Starting at bottom, adhere end of lace to Tear & Tape adhesive. Twist lace and adhere. Continue twisting and adhering until you run out of adhesive. Clip end.
I used the following products for this project:
You can participate in this challenge as well! Just head on over to the Global Design Project for all the details! And now I'm off to mail this card to someone special.
Until next time...happy stampin'!
