Fairy Dust
This is one set that, honestly, I didn't have on my wish list. I was looking through my catalog the other day though and I decided that I really did like the sweet fairy images and the sentiment I used today totally makes me think Disney...and if you know anything about me, you know I'm a Disney girl! So I took the plunge and added it to my order and I'm so glad I did! I think the projects I create with this set will be perfect for all the little princesses in my life!
Tips & Tricks
- Fairy wings definitely need Wink of Stella! It's always hard to tell from a picture but her wings are covered with delicate sparkle thanks to the clear Wink of Stella pen. I also used the gold Wink of Stella on her hair and the dots on the mushroom, for a little extra sparkle.
- The Irresistibly Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper is so nice for backgrounds, especially when you're looking for something special that's not in any of the DSP packs. In this case, I wanted something that used Sweet Sugarplum and So Saffron, so I blended them colors with a sponge brayer to create a unique, soft background.
- My fairy card needed LOTS of sparkle, so I stamped the sentiment on to Shimmery White cardstock. I added the color with inks and an aqua painter.
- I have not always enjoyed watercoloring (I know, you never would have guessed that from all the watercolor cards I post). For me, it's become like the "adult coloring" that's so popular right now. It's very soothing and relaxing! I'm really enjoying playing with colors...seeing how light or dark I can make them depending on the amount of water and ink mixed in...and especially blending and mixing colors. A good example is her dress: at first I had painted it in Emerald Envy but it seemed too dark, so I went over it with Tempting Turquoise. It was still dark but I was really pleased with the way these two colors blended.
I used the following products on this project (I will do my best to include all the stamp pad colors I used to watercolor with...there were a LOT!)
