This stamp set, Glamper Greetings, was not high on my "must have" list when I first saw it in the Holiday Catalog. It is adorable, don't get me wrong, but there are a lot of little pieces and that always worries me. I did finally order it and I have to say, I'm so glad it's part of my collection for a couple of reason...I have several family members and friends who love to camp so using this set for cards for them is perfect AND all those little pieces actually make this set really versatile for birthdays and for several holidays! I guess what I'm saying is, don't let all the little pieces scare you...the set is photopolymer so lining things up is a snap, and if you don't mind a little bit of fussy cutting, the little pieces also create fun dimension as accents on your projects!
Tips & Tricks
- I wanted the Christmas lights strung along the top of my trailer to look like they were turned on and glowing. To achieve that, I watercolored each light with a dark color, then went around the outside of each light with the same color but washed out with a lot of water...this technique makes the lights appear to glow.
- Masking (stamping, then covering part of an image before stamping something else so it appears as if an image is behind something else) is a great technique but I find that sometimes, instead of masking, actually cutting an image out and adhering it in front of an image adds a lot of dimension. I cut out both the tree and the snowman and glued them in front of the trailer.
- The clear mica flakes makes the most beautiful snow! I love how it reflects light and sparkles, just like real snow!
- I am LOVING my Stitched Shapes framelits! I would have wanted two layers for my sentiment circle, but the simple "stitching" around the edge of the circle draws just the right amount of attention without adding another layer.
