Hello stampin' friends...and Happy Thanksgiving if you're in the USA! Today is a busy day for everyone, so THANK YOU for taking a couple of minutes to stop by my page. Today I'm participating in the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop with some very creative demonstrators from all over the world. If this is your first time to my blog, WELCOME...I hope you'll come back often!
Our theme for this month is Christmas. I have two projects to share with you...one that I used #simplestamping on and the other is just a little stepped up. I used the adorable Seasonal Chums stamp set (found in the current annual catalog) on both projects.
The first project is this sweet card:
This card would be an easy project for any stamper...beginners included! The snowman is stamped with Memento black ink onto a piece of Whisper White scrap cardstock. I used watercolor pencils to color the image, then brushed over it with a blender pen to wash out the lines left by the pencils to create a soft, watercolor look. (Blender pens come in a pack of three. They are filled with a clear liquid that works similarly to a paint brush with water on it. Each pen has two tips--one on each end. You can designate tips to different colors, or you can just brush off a tip onto scratch paper when you've finished using it. Even if the tip becomes stained, if no color is coming off of it when you brush it onto scratch paper, it's safe to use in another color. If you haven't tried blender pens, be sure to add them to your next order...you'll love them!) Once the image was colored, I used the 2-1/4" circle punch to punch it out.
The sentiment is stamped on a strip of Whisper White cardstock. I clipped the left end to create a flag, then attached it to the back of the circle with a little bit of SNAIL adhesive.
To finish the card, I added a piece of the Under The Mistletoe designer series paper to an Old Olive card base. Speaking of cardstock, did you know you can purchase cardstock sets that coordinate with different designer series papers? If you're just getting started in stamping, it's a great way to get more colors for less money (you can see the Under The Mistletoe cardstock pack in the first showcase at the bottom of this post)! I wrapped a piece of Night of Navy baker's twine around the top, securing the bow with a mini glue dot. Finally, the snowman piece is adhered in the bottom, right corner.
My second project is this fun little treat box...
I used the same watercolor pencils and blender pen to color the image, but added the framelits to cut it out. The coordinating framelits for this set are soooo cute! You can use them to cut out the image alone, or to cut out fold-over tags, which is what I'm showing here. In addition, I used a Wink of Stella glitter brush to color the snowman, so he's very sparkly (probably a little hard to see in the photo)!
The box itself is one of our clear tiny treat boxes. These are perfect for simple but thoughtful small gifts or treats (I filled this one with holiday kisses). They are super easy to pop together and a single package holds 16 boxes...so you'll be able to make several at once. To dress it up, I wrapped it in a 1-3/4" strip of Under The Mistletoe DSP.
To complete the gift box, I made a small loop through the tag hole with a bit of Night of Navy twine (it's easier to attach to the bow this way). I wrapped a piece of Real Red cotton ribbon around the box and attached the tag in the bow through the twine loop. Finally, I splattered just a bit of Wink of Stella over the top of the box to had a touch of sparkle to the bow.
I hope you enjoyed today's projects! I'm including a showcase of the products I used at the bottom of this post...and if you're ready to hop to the next blog for another beautiful project, clink on one of the links below!
These are the products I used on the #simplestamping card...
I used most of the products above on the gift box project, but added these items...
