Happy Sunday stampers, and welcome to another Scrapbook Sunday blog hop! Our theme this month is designer's choice, which turned out to be a good thing for me. I had a great page in mind using photos I'd taken recently on my phone but somehow they got stuck on "the cloud" and when I went to print them, it was a no go! I was getting ready to go on another trip and was a little short on time so I quickly went through some pictures I already had printed and designed my page from there. I love designer's choice also because we all do something completely different and it's so much fun to see what everybody comes up with!
Here's my project:
Since I was using gorgeous floral photos, I thought our new Delightfully Detailed laser-cut specialty paper would be a perfect background. You'll find these absolutely beautiful papers on page 189 of the 2018-19 Stampin' Up! catalog. Each package contains eight sheets, four each of two designs. They are Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the other. One of the designs is specifically made to be cut to card-size pieces but I love that the other design is a full sheet of lovely laser-cut floral! It can also be cut down for cards but because it is 12 x 12, it can very easily be used on a 12 x 12 scrapbook page.
I had already cut out a corner from one of the full sheets for a card (you can see it HERE), so initially, I trimmed the rest and had planned to only use the piece placed on the right side behind the photos. As I was putting the rest of the page together, I decided to add the smaller piece in the upper left corner and liked the way that looked. Both pieces were attached to the 12 x 12 Whisper White page with fine-tip glue.
When 12 x 12 colored cardstock isn't available, it's really easy to fudge it! For the Daffodil Delight strip behind the photos, I just cut two pieces and pieced them together....you can't even see the line unless you're looking for it! :)
I did the same thing with the Pear Pizzazz strip but I also wanted to add some texture to it...in order for it to fit in the Subtle embossing folder, I had to cut it into three sections but again, you can't even tell because I hid the lines where they connect behind the photos and the journaling block.
The journaling block is cut from Soft Sea Foam cardstock with one of the squares from the Stitched Shapes framelits set.
I chose all the colors for this project from the photos, but I wanted the title to stand out so used the darkest color for that. "Amazing" is cut from Merry Merlot using a die from the Celebrate You thinlits set.
The letters for "Buchart Gardens" are found in the Make a Difference stamp set. This is a great set for both cards and scrapbook pages...there are two complete alphabet styles (one upper and lower case, one all upper case), as well as lots of other bits and pieces for your stamping projects! You'll find it on page 178 of the 2018-19 Stampin' Up! catalog. I ended up having to stamp this twice. The first time, I stamped them onto a piece of scratch paper and I was having a hard time keeping them straight. The second time, I found it was much easier to line up the letters when I stamped them onto a 1/2" strip of paper...I used Soft Sea Foam so that it tied in with the journaling block and stamped in Merry Merlot.
This page came together soooo quickly that I almost felt like it wasn't finished somehow. I set it up and sat back to look at it a bit and decided that I really liked the simplicity...the photos are really the stars of this show anyway so quick and easy it is!
