23 Days 'til Christmas - Coffee Gift Card Holder Card

Can you guess which famous coffee house inspired today's project with their famous bright red and white Christmas cups?  (I'll give you a hint...I visit there EVERY DAY for my chai latte.)  I love to give gift cards--especially THESE gift cards!!--and this is such a fun way to package them!  Although this card is Christmas themed, I've used this pattern several times with different themes!

Tips & Tricks

  • It's easy to create a pattern for this card...keep it around so you can use it over and over!  Take a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of cardstock.  Along one of the 4-1/4" edges, make a mark at 5/8" on each end.  Lay a ruler from one mark up to the top corner and draw a line.  Repeat for other side.  Now just cut along each pencil line and you'll have the basic shape of a cup.  Whenever I'm going to make this card, I take a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock, fold it in half, lay my pattern with the wide edge on the fold and trim my card to match the pattern shape!
  • To create the cup sleeve, I cut a piece of cardstock to 1-3/4" x 4-1/4" and ran it through a paper corrugator (Stampin' Up! used to carry this item so hopefully you have one around!).  I adhere it to the card front where I want it to be, then trim the edges to match the edge of the card.
  • To create the card holder on the inside, cut a piece of cardstock 3-1/2" x 5-1/2".  Place your cardstock in your scoring tool with the long edge along the ruler and score at 1", 2-3/4" and 4-1/2".  Fold cardstock in half (at the 2-3/4" score line).  Line up the Decorative Label punch almost 1/2 way (see photo below) and punch, to create the holder.  The other two tabs will be folded the opposite way from the middle fold and be adhered to the inside of the card on either side of the fold (see other photo).

  • The top part of the card is also easy...just cut a piece of cardstock 1-1/2" x 4-1/4" inches.  Use a corner rounder to round the bottom two corners.  I also cut another small strip of paper 1/4" x 4-1/4", which I layered just above the rounded corners to add a bit of dimension.
